Firefighters from multiple agencies responded to a structure fire in Surf City that damaged a home and two neighboring properties before crews successfully brought the blaze under control. The fire prompted a large emergency response during the early morning hours, with firefighters working aggressively to prevent the flames from spreading further. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.

According to the Town of Surf City Fire Department, crews were dispatched to the 400 block of North Shore Drive after receiving reports of a residential structure fire. Upon arrival, firefighters encountered heavy fire conditions at the rear of the building, requiring an immediate defensive and offensive firefighting operation to contain the blaze. The intensity of the fire and the close proximity of nearby homes made protecting adjacent structures a top priority for incident commanders.

Firefighters quickly deployed hose lines and established a coordinated attack while additional crews searched for any occupants who might still be inside the residence. Officials later confirmed that everyone had safely evacuated and that no civilians or emergency responders were injured during the incident. The absence of injuries was credited to the rapid response of firefighters and the swift evacuation of the affected property.

Although firefighters succeeded in extinguishing the main body of the fire, two neighboring structures sustained damage from the heat and flames before the incident was brought under control. Crews remained at the scene for several hours conducting overhaul operations, extinguishing hidden hot spots, and ensuring the fire would not rekindle. Fire officials also began an investigation to determine the origin and cause of the blaze. At the time of the initial report, the cause had not been released.

The response involved numerous agencies from across the region. Assisting the Surf City Fire Department were the Topsail Beach Fire Department, North Topsail Beach Fire Department, Pender EMS & Fire, and the Surf City Police Department. Their coordinated efforts ensured sufficient personnel and equipment were available to control the incident and protect nearby homes from further damage.

Officials praised the teamwork demonstrated by first responders, noting that cooperation between fire departments and emergency medical personnel played a significant role in preventing the incident from becoming even more destructive. While the damaged residence sustained substantial fire damage, firefighters were able to stop the flames before additional homes were lost.

Following the fire, investigators examined the structure, interviewed witnesses, and documented evidence to determine how the blaze began. Fire officials reminded residents to ensure smoke alarms are functioning properly, maintain clear evacuation plans, and report signs of fire immediately by calling 911. Early notification and rapid emergency response remain among the most effective ways to reduce injuries and property loss during residential fires.

As cleanup and recovery efforts continued, town officials expressed gratitude to the firefighters, law enforcement officers, emergency medical personnel, and neighboring agencies whose prompt actions helped contain the fire and protect the surrounding community. The investigation into the cause of the blaze remained ongoing pending the results of the fire department’s examination.
