Hartford police have identified the two men killed in a violent incident that unfolded Wednesday evening in the city’s Frog Hollow neighborhood as 36-year-old Troylon Cooper of Manchester and 30-year-old Bryan Ortiz-Santiago of Hartford. Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the deadly encounter, which left two people dead and another teenager injured, while detectives work to determine exactly what led to the violence.

According to the Hartford Police Department, emergency responders were dispatched shortly after 7 p.m. to the area of Madison Street near Zion Cemetery after multiple callers reported a large fight involving several individuals. When officers arrived at the scene, they discovered Troylon Cooper suffering from a critical stab wound. Police immediately began administering emergency medical aid before Cooper was transported to a nearby hospital. Despite the efforts of first responders and medical personnel, he later succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.

As investigators secured the crime scene, they learned that two additional victims had already been taken to a local hospital by private vehicle before officers arrived. One of those victims was later identified as Bryan Ortiz-Santiago, who had sustained a gunshot wound during the incident. Hospital staff worked to save his life, but he later died from his injuries. The third victim, a 17-year-old, was also transported to the hospital and was treated for injuries described by police as non-life-threatening. Authorities have not publicly released the teenager’s identity because of his age.

The investigation indicates that the fatal encounter stemmed from a large altercation, though detectives have not yet disclosed what sparked the confrontation or how many individuals may have been involved. Investigators spent several hours processing the scene, collecting physical evidence, interviewing witnesses, and reviewing surveillance footage from nearby homes and businesses in hopes of identifying everyone connected to the incident. Police have not announced any arrests or identified any suspects as of the latest update.

The deaths of Cooper and Ortiz-Santiago have left family members, friends, and neighbors grieving as the Hartford community seeks answers. Residents of the Frog Hollow neighborhood described the incident as deeply unsettling, noting the significant police presence that remained in the area well into the evening as investigators worked to reconstruct the events leading to the deadly violence. Authorities have stated that, based on the information gathered so far, they do not believe there is an ongoing threat to the public.

Hartford police continue to urge anyone who witnessed the altercation or has information about the case to come forward. Detectives believe that additional eyewitness accounts and surveillance recordings could prove critical in determining exactly what happened and identifying those responsible. Investigators are asking anyone with information to contact the Hartford Police Department or submit anonymous tips through the appropriate channels.

As the investigation moves forward, loved ones are remembering Troylon Cooper and Bryan Ortiz-Santiago not for the tragic circumstances of their deaths but for the lives they lived and the people they were to their families and communities. Their deaths mark another painful reminder of the devastating impact of violent crime, leaving two families mourning unimaginable losses while the Hartford Police Department continues its pursuit of justice.
