Her passing has left an immeasurable void among her family, friends, colleagues, patients, and countless individuals whose lives she touched through her kindness, compassion, and unwavering faith.

Born on March 1, 1980, in Sioux City, Iowa, Mindy was the twin daughter of Donna (Peters) Durant. She was raised in South Sioux City, where she was baptized and confirmed at Hope Lutheran Church. From an early age, Mindy demonstrated exceptional athletic ability and an outgoing personality that naturally drew people to her. During her years at South Sioux City High School, she excelled in basketball, volleyball, softball, track, soccer, and even cheerleading. She proudly helped lead the Cardinals girls’ basketball team to four consecutive Nebraska state championships and was honored as the school’s Homecoming Queen. She graduated in 1998, leaving behind a legacy as both an accomplished athlete and a compassionate classmate.

Following high school, Mindy continued her education on a basketball scholarship at Morningside College before pursuing a degree in dental hygiene at the University of South Dakota. She dedicated the next two decades of her professional life to serving patients at the Winnebago Dental Clinic, where she became known not only for her clinical expertise but also for the warmth and encouragement she shared with everyone who walked through the clinic’s doors. Patients and coworkers alike remember her ability to brighten difficult days with a smile and genuine concern for others.

Above all else, Mindy cherished her role as a mother. She devoted her life to her four children McKenna, Brodee, Jagger, and Cooper ensuring they always felt supported, encouraged, and deeply loved. Whether attending sporting events, celebrating milestones, or simply spending quality time together, Mindy placed her family at the center of everything she did. She also volunteered as an assistant coach for the South Sioux City Cardinals girls’ basketball program, giving back to the sport she loved while having the opportunity to coach her daughter McKenna.

Friends describe Mindy as someone who consistently put others before herself. She often kept blankets and food in her vehicle for anyone in need and never hesitated to help a stranger or offer encouragement to someone struggling. A devoted Christian, she openly shared her faith and frequently credited God as the source of her strength. Family gatherings, church, dancing, and community events were among her greatest joys, and she embraced every opportunity to bring people together with love and generosity.

Mindy is survived by her children, her mother Donna Durant, her siblings, numerous nieces and nephews, her special friend Roy Mason, and many extended family members and friends.
